I recently returned from a review of IE 7 Beta 2 with Microsoft. I am happy to confirm that Redmond has been working hard to enhance security in their browser.

With enhancements ranging from protected mode and URL handing protections to malware protection techniques, they all are positive steps forward. Furthermore, they are introducing a few user-experience improvements like tabbed browsing, RSS feed support, and a cleaner user interface, which are good strides as well. Not to hamper all this fabulous work, but most folks have been enjoying a lot of these enhancements–for quite some time–in another browser, um, Firefox and in AOL’s very own browser: AOL Explorer. :) However, I have been running IE 7 Beta 2 for a while and I encourage others to take an early look as well before it ships. After-all, it still commandeers 60-85% of the market share depending upon the location and report.

To commemorate this first entry on VelociPeek we have a #1 hovering over a background of IE 7 Beta 2 rendering the AOL.com Web portal.
