As I write this blog entry with Firefox 3.0 beta 3, I still couldn’t help but be sad about this day. Today is AOL’s last official day of support for the Netscape Browser.
Being a part of AOL in the days of the AOL-Netscape merger, I can only, now, wish things could have gone differently.
However, the Firefox team, consisting of some of those early pioneers, continues to push the envelope of innovation, and AOL even had a hand in helping that to happen–thankfully.
The reasons likely make sense for AOL; but nevertheless, RIP Netscape Browser.
